First, retrieve the video film clips from the zipped file byclicking here for a direct link. You will need to unzip the file and have a media player to watch them.

Then, answer the following questions.

• Packet (A): Role of Womeno Watch the TV clips from Packet (A): Role of Women. From the clips, take note to yourself: 1. How did the women characters view themselves? 2.   How did the men characters view the women?  3. As you watch, if we concede that all gender roles are a social construct, then, men didn’t arrive at these beliefs about women spontaneously but instead, they were influenced by events, moods, and/or movements during the era, but, ask yourself, what were these events?

• Packet (B): Role of Men:o Watch the TV clips from Packet (A): Role of Men. From the clips, take note to yourself: How did the leading men characters view themselves?  How as this in conflict with the traditional male role of the era? Similar to the response above, If we concede that all gender roles are a social construct, then, the idea that ‘men are in charge, can’t cry, must hold it together, must be strong and masculine’ didn’t spontaneously happen but instead, they have origins in events, moods, and/or movements, so, ask yourself, what were these events?
