Task (1) Pick Topic & Style

You do not have to post any questions or answers at this time. You are only picking a topic you want to research.

Topics

  1. Victorian Era lack of Sexuality attacked by Fin De Siècle Feminists: Why is seduction taboo in the Victorian Age? How did the Fin De Siècle Feminists destroy the notion of ‘modesty’? Why is sexuality perceived as non-existent in our Modern Age? Why was seduction frowned upon? Why can’t you enjoy pleasure for the sake of pleasure? Why was that a no-no? What events or what happened in the early 1900s to the present that makes seduction oh sooooo sexy!?)
  2. Segregation Era Witch-hunts: How were the Segregation Era Witch-hunts, Springfield Riots, Will Brown, and Emmett Till, and so many others who were murdered, a catalyst for social change during the late 1920s? (It breaks my heart to teach it to you because of the nature of the topic. But we are in college to educate ourselves on the past – so here it is. First, ask yourself, what is a catalyst? Define that word. Then, look back at the 1800s – 1890s and tell me how they are or could be a catalyst for the Fin De Siècle Racial Equality movement.)
  3. The New Woman, The New Man: 2020 is credited with the complete and utter break from traditional norms and values when it came to gender norms but, it isn’t the first! How did the Fin De Siècle era redefine women and men? How did these new women and new men challenge their own name? Meaning, how often do you hear your name? How often is your name spoken with affection and charm? Or, is your name neglected? Is your name not even second thought upon the lips of your lover? Or, more reminiscent of the Pre-Fin de Siècle era, is your name replaced with a nickname, their surname, or cutesy name? Discuss this topic in terms of redefining the 1920s genders.
  4. Symbolism, Decadent, and the Arts: How did the Fin De Siècle era set literature and art free from the materialistic preoccupations of industrialized society? How did art become a symbolic representation of the thoughts and mood of the Fin De Siècle era? How did art liberate and free morals and inhibitions?
