 Critical Response, Think about how the Harlem Renaissance impacted American culture and the traditional literary canon. Think about the time period (1919- approximately early 1930s) and how African American lives and culture were portrayed and perceived during this time. Prepare a one page CR(critical response) on each of these individuals that represent the era. 1. Anna Julia Cooper, 2. Ida B. Wells-Barnett, 3. Marcus Garvey that analyzes each figure from this time by identifying what that individual through the text   brought to American culture. How did the figure and, their text, intervene in American culture and the literary canon at this time? Therefore, you will be analyzing the figure as well as their text. It can be a poem or a text that was not assigned in the course.

This assignment is meant to demonstrate the complexities and importance of the Harlem Renaissance. It seeks to identify how African American literature shaped American culture during this time and after.
