"Crossing Over" by Harrison Ford is an American independent drama film which is about illegal immigrants of different nationalities who live in America’s Los Angeles and are struggling in the achievement of a legal status. The film is about the green card and asylum process, document fraud, class of cultures, work site enforcement, counter terrorism and naturalization. The film explores the aspect of cultural boundaries and cultural diversity which led to dehumanizing effects of boarder controls on those people who sought to cross the border. The high rate of racism based on a person’s skin colour is the main issue that was behind the illegal immigrants issue in America. The ensemble of multi-ethnic casts in the movie turns into a solid performance with drama facing the hardworking people at Customs and Immigration Enforcement.
Immigration rule and requirements in the movie has enhanced the theme of cultural boundaries and diversity. The many issues of immigration are as a result of cultural diversities of people who are crossing into America with many of them being regarded as illegal immigrants. Max Brogan who is an INS agent and stationed in Los Angeles decided to help an illegal textile worker by taking the son of the woman to his grandmother.
