My mother loves to swim. She was so good at swimming that competitions were natural choices. Joining the long winter swimming in 2004 was memorable as she was the first female, and only female, until now, who was acknowledged to cross the Ulungur Lake. With an area of 1,035 square kilometers, the lake is one of Chinas ten largest freshwater lakes. It took her a remarkable 9 hours and 53minutes to cross the lake.

I am very proud of my mother. I still remember when my mom was interviewed after the splendid feat, she said: “I am 40 years old already. the purpose of doing this is to tell my only daughter that she can be a strong person just like her mother.
