Cultural dimension theory of Hofstede is an important cross-cultural communication framework, proposed and established by Greet Hofstede. This specific framework describes the effect of culture of a society on the human values. There are six different dimensions in this framework. Individualism vs. Collectivism can be considered as an important dimension among those six dimensions. This plays an important role in shaping cultural beliefs of an individual.

This is the measure to which the social individuals are integrated into a particular group. People of European countries rank high in this list. On the other hand, people of Asian countries rank low in this list. People of Western countries believe in individual goal development, activities and achievement. On the other hand, people of Asian countries believe in collective work, collective performance and group achievements.
