Hi, need to submit a 750 words essay on the topic : Antwan Fisher.

Movie Review- Antwone Fisher Lend a Helping Hand Childhood is a very crucial time for any man’s development. Proper care, right education and a loving environment nurtures a child into a confident and responsible individual. while abuse, abandonment and neglect scars the young developing brain and leave its mark even in maturity. The movie Antwone Fisher deals with the theme of childhood abuse and neglect where the protagonist grow up to be a deeply scarred individual who feels that the whole world is bent on punishing him. The movie also shows how a single helping hand can negate the wrongs of childhood and once again fill up the errant heart with love and hope so that the same troubled man now becomes a helping member of the society. Holy Bible and Lost Children Even the holy Bible tells us that we should do our best to lend a helping hand to a child who has lost from is path. What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray? And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray. So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish. (Matthew 18:12-14 ESV) Hence, we see that God tells us that every child is important to Him and that we should do our best to bring the light of hope and joy in each individual’s life. Real Life Story Based on a real life story, Antwone Fisher has to deal with absentee parents due to whom he had to be kept in a foster home along with two other kids, Keith and Dwight. Fisher grew up in the Tate’s household, where Mr. Tate was a pastor. Here he was much physically, mentally and verbally abused by Mrs. Tate who also took away his pocket money. But more than all the abuse she did a massive harm to his self esteem. She called the children “nigguhs”, and by the degree of acid in her tones, the children were able to identify the person whom she was referring. Thus, the seeds of racism were sown early on in his childhood. Fisher was also sexually exploited by another female member of the Tate Household (Nadine Tate) a number of times in his childhood. This sexual exploitation made him under confidant and he had trouble associating with women in his adult life. Thus, Fisher is seen as an angry and troubled young man who is always on the lookout for a fight. He feels that the whole world is plotting to harm him and does not want to take anyone’s help. Life is just a continuous battlefield for him and he struggles to live it each day fighting for survival, until one helping hand comes out to reach him and take him out of his enforced imprisonment of self. This person is Dr. Jerome Davenport who is a psychiatrist. Jerome goes much beyond the normal call of duty in treating the troubled young man (in spite of all his protests) and brings back his life to a fair degree of normalcy. He heals Fishes of all the old psychological wounds so that he takes the first step towards a normal life. He is able to romantically connect with Cheryl who is fellow naval personnel and traces back his absentee family thus closing that chapter of his life. Hence, we see that the unselfish love and guidance brought a troubled young man back to a life or normalcy.
