This is a 4-6 minute speech that informs us about a topic. You will choose the topic.

Speech organization: 

•1) An introduction. 1-2 paragraphs.  Introduction usually 60-90 seconds.•II) A ”body” with 2-5 main points. Each main point 1 paragraph, 30-60 seconds per main point. •III) A conclusion.  1 paragraph.  Conclusion 30 seconds (or less).

Speech Delivery

The speech must be delivered extemporaneously - do not read a fully written-out speech.  It's best to create an outline, or some other shorter version of the speech, that you can fill in.  You may use powerpoint/prezi software if you want.  You can refer to notes, outline, 3X5 cards, and/or to the powerpoint as you deliver the speech, but remember eye contact!

Please do not read the speech off your phone. Ipads/computers can be used but notes/outlines/3X5 cards are the best.

Please turn in your written out speech. The outline is simply your main points.  You will not be graded on how close the speech you deliver is to the written speech: I expect what you will do during the speech might be slightly different.

Grades will be based on delivery, organization, introductions/conclusions, topic interest, and research.
