his week's assignment focuses on planning and preparing for your Final Design Project, due in Week 8.  This is a major assignment that cannot be done thoroughly by waiting until the final week.  There are questions you need to think about in preparation for this project, including:

1.  What is the topic of your unit?  Remember, this project should be broad enough to include at least 3 to 5 complete lessons.  The lesson plans should include an outline of instruction, objectives, explanation of activities, worksheets or any student assignments and assessments.

2.  Who are the students?  Identify your students as precisely as possible, such as: third graders, beginning adult ballroom dancers, entry level employees in the financial aid office, an adult Sunday School class, etc.

3.  What resources do I need?  You may use resources from other lessons, websites, and written materials.  They must be clearly cited, even if you use the ideas and mdify the materials.

Now, write a 3-5 page paper describing what your focus will be for this Week 8 Design Project.  

Include your rationale for the topic selection based on need, your level of expertise, or whatever it is that led you to this topic.

Include a timeline you will follow to complete the design, including dates and checkpoints.  

You may also use this paper to ask specific questions you may have about your project.

The five elements of this assignment are:

Focus:  What is your subject area?  What 3-5 units will you choose for lesson plans?  Who are your students?  At what type of institution will you teach?

Rationale:  Why are you qualified to teach this subject area?

Timeline:  In the remaining weeks (weeks 5, 6, 7, and 8), what will you complete each week in order to meet the final project deadline (Thursday midnight of Week 8)?

Resources:  List any non-original materials needed (paper-based, electronic, physical) within the lessons you are developing for this final project, using APA format (as needed/expected).
