How do metalloids differ from metals?

Common properties of metals include malleability (easily bent or shaped), ductility (the ability to be stretched into wires), and their ability to conduct heat and electricity. Non-metals have opposite properties. They are generally brittle and poor conductors of heat and electricity. Metalloids conduct heat and electricity, but not as well as metals. These properties make metalloids ideal for use in computer circuits because they transmit electrical information without overheating.
