QUESTION

# How do you convert grams to kilograms?

See the explanation.

The equality between grams and kilograms is "1000 g=1 kg". This gives two equivalent fractions, also called conversion factors. They are "1000 g"/"1 kg" and "1 kg"/"1000 g"=1". Equivalent fractions or conversion factors always equal 1. When converting grams to kilograms, you would use the second conversion factor. This will cancel grams and leave you with kilograms.
