How does gas exert pressure on its container?

Gas exert pressures the same way that everything else does, by colliding with the sides of the container. Since gas molecules are very spread out from eachother as they move around and bounce off the sides of the container they push on it according to Newtons First Law of Motion, thus causing a on the container.
