Hi Marcus,
It was good to see you, just following up on our conversation. You had mentioned that you finished completing your degree program and now on the job hunt looking for something in your field. I notice you had lots question and interest in the organization that I am working with now. We can discuss but continue online searching through (monster, USA jobs..etc.) and networking, and attend jobs fair, and research job opportunity in your field of interest. Stay focus to maintain a positive attitude, and stay persistent. The reason being you may not always be selected as a candidate for some position, and you may not get interview each time.
Although, you have some interest in my line of work I cannot promise anything will help. In my field, before they hire, some requirements that take place doing the application process. It requires a background check and security clearance you have to get fingerprinted and will go through drug screening. I know you just fresh out of grad school, but anything in your past can hinder you from being hired. If you are good with that, then the next step is imperative to perfect the resume that will best sell and summarize your professional qualifications.
Don’t get frustrated and disappointed nor give up, remember to stay active and persistent. Patience is the key things are bound to turn in your favor as long as you do not give up. Keep in touch and let me know how things are going.
My strategy was not to give advice but enable Marcus to see what he needs to do and suggest how to go about to get it. Just by providing him with some ideas where to start. Providing a sense of reality that if he does not first succeed keep trying until he gets what he wants.
