The hierarchy is given in a system order such that the satisfaction of the upper need only comes when the lower need has already been satisfied. The satisfaction also must be sequential that is one need follows the other need in the order in which they were initially arranged. The theory addresses differences in gender more so, when it comes to work place affair. At workplaces, men are more favored than women because of their output (Luzzo, 1995). Women are considered to have low rate of production as compared to their male counterparts. therefore, a lot of discrimination is always practiced when it comes to selection of workers in a given set up. Even when it comes to education priority is given to the male child as compared to the female due to believe that the male child is better that the female child (Luzzo, 1995). Stereotyping has always affected the outcomes of the various women in jobs that they consider are meant for men. These women tend to fear full participate maybe because other people more so men will tease them off. Women have also given in to the various humiliation that their male counterparts are exposing them to and most of the time the humiliation becomes the excuse for poor performance. According to Maslow, culture affects the fulfillment of the various needs and the fulfillment always relate to the profound happiness. Without complete satisfaction of one’s basic needs, the person can still be able to enjoy good social relationships. The value of needs always changes in the context of different cultures. In some case culture tend to lower the value of one need and the same culture tends to raise the value of the same need. Personality Development and Abraham Maslow Theory Maslow Theory tends to explain the development of the personality and his explanations are based upon five assumptions. The first assumption tends to argue that the development of personality is based upon motivation of the whole person (Maslow, 1943). When the person is motivated holistically then they are able to develop in a more proper manner rather than when they are motivated partially. The second assumption tends to argue that some behavior can easily be changed through motivation. Even though motivation can at times be complex, but it can be used to change some part of the behavior for an individual. The third assumption tends to argue that satisfaction of the need for one individual result into the same individual satisfying the need for the same person who satisfied their needs. The fourth assumption tends to argue that universal motivation that leads to development for an individual comes from the basic needs (Maslow, 1943). The last assumption tends to argue that development for individuals are based upon the hierarchical fashion in which their needs are arranged in. The given fashion of arrangement tends to shape the lifestyle of that individual and also lead to their development. Changes of Personality over the Lifespan The personality according to the theory tends to reduce as ageing period comes in. The needs for the children are numerous while as they tend to age off those needs drastically reduce (Maslow, 1970).
