Lab Steps

STEP 1: Select and Outline a Training Topic

  1. Select an intermediate level topic from MS Excel that you would like to train a small group on. The topic should be brief [i.e., pmt() function, filtering, IF() function, import/export data, data validation].
  2. The training session that you are going to present will be 5-10 minutes in length. Outline the material that you are going to use for the training session. Save the outline in a Word document named "LAB06.docx".

STEP 2: Familiarize Yourself with the Virtual Meeting Web Conferencing Tool

Familiarize yourself with the features of the Web Conferencing tool.

  1. Follow your instructors information about the Web Conferencing Tool.

STEP 3: Conduct and Record the Training Session

You will conduct your training session in the same group to which you were assigned for the Week 5 iLab, unless directed otherwise by your instructor. Each person in the group will take turns presenting his/her chosen topic. Your group will use the Web conferencing tool to do the presentations. You may want to plan to meet in the Web conference beforehand to try out some of the features together. This is practice, so make the best of it.

  1. With your group, determine the date and time that you are going to hold the training session.
  2. Each person in the group will have 5-10 minutes to conduct his/her selected training.
  3. Use the Share Desktop feature to display Excel. Record and save the training session. (It will be recorded as one file for the group.)
  4. The recording will automatically be saved in the Web conference archive. Make a note of the date and time when you began the session; your instructor will need this information to identify your group's recording.

STEP 4: Submit File to the DropBox

Submit the following files to this week’s Dropbox:

  • Lab06.docx
  • In the comments, give the starting date and time of the recorded meeting archive file you created above.

Note!

Submit your assignment to the Dropbox, located at the top of this page. For instructions on how to use the Dropbox, read these step-by-step instructions.
