Jamal Washington applied to four banks for a loan to cover his mother's medical expenses.  The first three banks denied his application. The fourth bank approved his application and loaned him the money. 

The banks that denied Jamal's loan applications never provided any reason or explanation for denying the loan. Jamal believes that the first three banks denied his application because of his race. What are his legal rights? 

Jamal, consistently made payments in accordance with the terms of the loan for three years and only had two more payments before the loan was paid in full. Unfortunately, Jamal's house burned down, and he lost everything. The insurance company was slow to pay on his insurance claim and Jamal went into default on the bank loan. The bank quickly turned his case over to a collection agency. The collection agency called Jamal at all house of the night and day, swearing at him and threatening him. Jamal became quite distraught and unable to function at his job.
