In one of our Week 4 readings, Prof. Davidson’s 2002 article “Leveraging differences for organizational excellence: managing diversity differently” proposes a new diversity model on “what needs to be in place in order to leverage difference, not merely to tolerate, appreciate or celebrate it.”
Given Davidson’s ideas on building inclusive work environments, what advice might he give to Bill, the hiring manager in the Fat Chance case situation (see Week 4 readings)? Should Sid’s weight be a factor in how Bill decides hiring? What would you do if you were Bill’s role as the person who has to make the hiring decision?
