Proposed Thesis Statement:(one sentence) 

Topic Overview:(about 300 words) 

Research Questions:

Develop a list of at least five questions that are driving your interest in the topic and that mayserve as a starting point for the essay. 

Methodology:

In about 300 words, describe what method(s) you will utilize to conduct your research. Somequestions may include, but are not limited to, the following: What types of sources will youutilize for this project? How will each source type benefit your research? Are there any sourcetypes that you are excluding? How will you ensure that the research in your essay is valid andverifiable? Consult with your professor for additional methodological questions and general guidance. 

Proposed Outline:

Students have flexibility in terms of the structure of this outline. Please work with your instructorto develop an outline format that fits your approach. At minimum, this section must include breakdown of the major sections of the essay and the topic or question that each essay will cover. 

Works Cited:

On a separate page, include your preliminary list of sources in a formal Works Cited page. Atthis point, you need to have a minimum of five secondary sources listed here. For the finalResearch Essay, students will need at least 11 secondary sources (including 4 scholarly sources).
