Members of the self-help community often refer to getting "sick and tired of being sick and tired" as a motivation for change. For this discussion: 


• Explain, with examples, the concept known as "maturing out" of addiction (also known as natural recovery or spontaneous remission). How does this concept support or fail to 
 support the progressive nature of the disease models of addiction? How can we explain "maturing out" given the genetic origins of addictive behavior?
