This application essay mainly focuses on much discussed and controversial topics of our time, such as drug addiction and drug abuse. Different drugs have different effects on the addicted people. Some, such as methamphetamine, may produce an intense “rush” and initial feelings of boundless energy. Others may produce excessive feelings of relaxation and calm. This essay discusses basic terminology of the addiction, various drugs and drug users in the United States of America. It also provides some statistics.

Drug addiction can cause lot of family social and workplace problems. This essay focuses mainly on the problems that a drug addict can cause to his/her family or suffer from.

Child abuse and neglect is discussed in this essay, that is more common when there is drug abuse in the family. The abuser may neglect a child’s basic both physical and social needs in the quest for more drugs. Also the lack of control can lead to increased physical and emotional abuse of the child or adult partner.

Conflicts an psychological issues, that can occur more between the drug addict parents and kids are also explained. The lack of parental control may lead the children towards antisocial activities. This essay also describes the physical and mental health a drug addict mother. Drug addiction, during pregnancy can affect the fetus as well as mothers well-being.
