What should the dimensions be, and show how the maximum area of the patio is calculated from the algebraic equation. Use the vertex form to find the maximum area.
Answer: length = 100, width = 100
A = xy
2x + 2y = 400
2y = 400 - 2x
y = 200- x
A = x (200-x)
x (200-x) = 0
x = 0, 200-x = 0
x = 0, x = 200
The line of symmetry is x = 100.
