The Bill signed into law by President Obama after Congress passed it in February 2012 requires of the military and security bodies to develop and fine-tune the not-so-common-now technology, referring to it as a necessary and significant step in advancing America’s aerial surveillance and security. In addition, the permission will extend to private and commercial UAV’s that will see them access the airspace above America which is currently ruled by manned aeroplanes. The explanation of this is that such measures will enhance the landings and take-offs of planes which currently rely on out of date and complex systems (Wagstaff, 2012). The following discussion will highlight the key controversies of this debate that circle within safety and privacy of the wider American population in regards to the UAV technology.

It is however important to come to terms with what drones really are, how they operate and what their largest implications are likely to be.
