How can graphics and/or statistics be used to misrepresent data? Where have you seen this done?

Graphics or statistics are easily used to misrepresent data. This is done through media whether it be television, periodicals, computer data, or through journalism. This was most recently done in our presidential elections where everyone thought the winner would be Hilary Clinton and were absolutely shocked when Donald Trump won. Politics aside the polls that predicted the win of Hilary Clinton by 70-99 percent were off, way off (Lohr & Singer, 2016). The problem with this is that Americanâs believe what they see and hear on the news to be true. Even though it is expected to be a margin of error in any statistic or data poll, in this case, the American people do not understand this, so if the president-elect is expected to win by 70 percent, then the margin of losing is 30 percent. Did anyone in class experience this same feeling, where you thought Clinton would win because data displayed this?
