Project - Mission Statement

Air Inc., an aircraft manufacturing company, was founded in 1967. The company has been doing great with profits and it is retaining its employees and customers. Some of this success has been attributed to their outstanding leadership. Because of the recent recession, customers are not buying as much, and Air, Inc. profits have been slipping. You are the vice president of an Air Inc. The CEO calls you and the vice president of human resources in for a meeting. Your company is planning to merge with another aircraft manufacturer, Plane Inc.

You are aware of how mergers can have a negative effect on employees. You also know that unhappy, disgruntled employees don't perform their tasks as well, can damage customer relationships, and ultimately can decrease company's profits. You are worried about how to present this merger to the employees.

The CEO has also mentioned to you the mission statement will need to be updated.

The current mission statement for Air Inc. is: "It is our mission to provide exceptional customer service and establish long term relationship with our clients."

The current mission statement for Plane Inc. is: "It is our mission to provide competitive rates and terms to our clients with integrity and honesty."

As the leader of your organization, you are responsible for the company's future. You are responsible for leading, motivating, and challenging your staff to meets it goals. As a part of the changes that are taking place at the organization, you have been asked to re-write the mission statement.

In a 1-2 page APA paper, cover the following:

• How did you come up with this mission statement?
• How will this mission statement assist your employees in meeting the goals of the company?
• Why is your mission statement an improvement to the existing one?
