Protecting the Nation's Borders

In the primary text, Bullock et al. (2016) states

The nation’s security and economic stability are contingent upon effective maintenance of secure borders, effective enforcement of immigration laws, and enforceable customs policies and procedures. These three tasks are monumental in their scope….By consolidating these functions under the DHS umbrella, the various agencies involved in their conduct have increased the effectiveness of each, and as a result, the nation is likely safer and more secure.
