Provide a 5 pages analysis while answering the following question: Aggression from Two Psychological Perspectives. Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide. An abstract is required. Aggression stands among the basic topics of psychology, and it is viewed from many different perspectives. These perspectives are biological, psychodynamic perspective, cognitive perspective, learning perspective and socio-cultural perspective. The behavioral and biological perspectives of aggression are discussed below.
Comparison between the Behavioral Approach and the Biological Approach of Aggression
According to the behavioral approach, researchers believe that this approach is based on animals' and humans' observed behavior and adopted. Thus, the behavioral approach of aggression is based on the learning history of aggression of an individual. On the other hand, the biological perspective of aggression views aggression as inherited and based on genetics in animals and human beings. Both the behavioral and biological perspectives are widely different from one another, but both have high significance (Bernstein, 2010). When treating a patient who has a problem related to aggression, both of these approaches are equally valued, and the therapist keeps both of these approaches in mind.
Aggression can arise due to any reason. an individual whose parents are highly aggressive doesn't have to adopt aggression through inheritance. Such an individual can also adopt aggression through his learning history of behavior (Nelson, 2005).
Biological psychologists believe that aggression is controlled by a physical methodology and follows the physical laws. They believe that the controlling machine, which every living thing has, is the brain's complex machine. Since the brain is a machine, it works on certain principles and laws of the human body. Apart from this, since the biological approach of aggression is based on genetics, two twins who have the same aggressive behavior follow the biological perspective and ignore the behavioral perspective of aggression (Nelson, 2005). This is because the two twins don't need to adopt the same behavior, but they will adopt the same nature from biological perspectives because they are born from one mother.
