READ THOROUGHLY TO COMPLETE ASSIGNMENT! Poster guidelines at the bottom! Do all except the screen o matic presentation!

Written Transcript:

Hi, students, Dr. Klein again. As you know, there's been a heavy emphasis throughout the program on professional development and career opportunities. One of the most fulfilling parts of my job is the ability to attend both regional and national conferences in the field of Psychology. Typically what I get from conferences is the ability to network, meet other professionals, the ability to share my work with others, and the ability to learn from what's happening in the field from other professionals who are doing some really exciting things. This week, we have an exciting assignment for you, which is to create a poster presentation and attend a virtual conference with your classmates. The purpose of this assignment is for you to learn from one another and also be able to share an aspect of your work here in the program that you're most proud of with your fellow students. My hope in this assignment is that you feel further inspired to attend conferences and other professional development opportunities, where you can further your learning and knowledge in the field of psychology.

Poster presentations at conferences are effective methods of communicating research findings. The discussion of the research being presented is a key element in poster conferences. During professional conferences, poster presenters speak with other psychology professionals providing insights into the information offered within the poster as well as explaining key elements of the research findings. See the PSY699 Poster submission guidelines (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. for templates and guidelines to aid in the creation of your poster.

For this week’s discussion, you will be submitting a link to your Pathbrite folder where your colleagues will find your poster presentation along with a brief detailed explanation of the materials included in it. Poster presentations are typically informal affairs with limited time for presenters to provide extra information. In keeping with this, your explanations of the materials will be limited to specific parameters. To explain the research presented in your poster, you will be creating a 3- to 5-minute screencast video. You may use any screencast software to create this video. (For further assistance with specific free-use screencast software please see the Quick-Start Guide for Screencast-O-Matic (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.) Within the screencast video, you will create a voice over that will point out unusual, unique, and important aspects of the research presented in the poster. Be certain to visually indicate the specific sections or headers where the elements are located to guide your viewers through the materials. The link to the screencast will be attached to the poster page within your Pathbrite Portfolio so that your colleagues may interact with your insights into the materials.

PSY699: Master of Arts in Psychology Capstone Poster Submission Guidelines  Congratulations on your poster being accepted for the Week Five Virtual Poster Conference!  The Virtual Conference will provide you with an opportunity to share your work with your colleagues in a professional poster presentation.  Your poster and explanation of the materials presented therein must be uploadedto your Pathbrite portfolio page no later than Day 3 of Week Five so that you may post the link to these in the initial post for this discussion.  Poster Guidelines 1. All information on the poster must be compiled into one PowerPoint slide in Landscape Orientation. See the template options here: Template 1, Template 2, and Template 3. 2. The full title of the poster and the name of the author should be shown at the top of the slide. 3. Enter content for the poster within the appropriate sections of your template and add heading names as necessary. 4. Be sure to remove any unused sections of the template. 5. Any photographs, graphs, or other images must belong to the author or be his/her original creation and should be large enough to see relevant detail.  Formatting Tips 1. Be clear and concise with the poster design and content.  Overcrowding a poster makes it difficult to read. 2. When creating the PowerPoint electronic poster, the preferred font is a 20-point font size. Use a minimum 16-point font size for ease of reading. 3. If possible, do not reformat the template, as the requirements for visibility are already built into the models.
