The purpose of the reflection/research essays is to make a personal connection between the course topics and yourself, and to do some research on those topics in current business publications (e.g., The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Economist, Bloomberg Businessweek, Fortune, and Forbes).

You must pick two or three topics in the  Chapters 10-14      , and explain why they resonate with you. Do they describe your personality? Do the topics remind you of encounters that you have had with friends/family/coworkers/professors? Do you disagree with the information in the textbook based on personal experiences that you have had? The idea is not to summarize the material in the textbook, but rather, to explain how it relates to you.

Each essay should be 600-750 words, which is approximately two-and-a-half double-spaced typewritten pages. Please use double spacing and a 12-point font. The cover sheet, which is not part of the 600-750 words, should have a title (the topics that you chose) as well as your name, the course#, and the date

The first half of the essay should identify your two or three topics and the reasons that you chose them. Be sure to include very specific examples that apply to you and your experiences. The second half of the paper should summarize two or three current articles (2011 or later) that provide additional information about all of your topics that is not covered in our textbook. Within the essay you should refer to the articles by the author (e.g., “According to an article by ….”). On a separate sheet at the end of the essay (and again, not included in the 600-750 words), please provide the following information for each article: the author, the name of the article, the publication in which it appears, the date, and (if applicable) the link to the website from which you retrieved it.
