Waldorf methid of teaching is a unique educational strategy which aims to create well rounded students through a broad curriculum, including academic, art and music education, physical education and emotional and socia, education. Waldorf philosophy is understood as a beliefs values and understanding of an individual. The stated goal of the Waldorf method is to produce individuals able to create meaning intheir own lives.
In a Waldorf classroom are designed with deliberation and intentionally. Use of color, comfort and space are all key factors in creating an educational experience designed around the child that inspired curiosity and embraces free thinking. Using natural materials in a Waldorf classroom are mase from natural fibers, such as wood, silk, wood and cotton. A typical classroom will often look much more like a home environment than a traditional classroom setting. There are also a variety of materials for dressing up or using to cover the wooden blocks. The usage of technology is limited especially in the early years.

Hi everyone,
I'm selecting the Montessori approach. The Montessori curriculum follows the child and works at their own pace. In the classroom, two grade levels could be sharing the same environment. It is a multi-age group. Areas and materials are very well organized in the class. For example, a Montessori classroom is divided into practical life, sensorial, math, language, science, and social studies. The purpose of many of the lessons in Montessori is to develop children with fine motor skills and cognitive skills. Every experience has a purpose and has an intentional goal when more challenging lessons are introduced. The materials are concrete and help the students to understand the concepts better. For example, I love the additional board or the number road that allows students to understand the quantity and the additional concepts. Also, practical life lessons are based on grown-up daily activities, so children start developing a sense of responsibility and independence. All lessons are model and introduce by the teacher. After its being introduced, the lessons are open for children to practice. The programs also focus on the social and emotional development every week, and children have a different topic during peace education that helps children to solve their conflicts. The classroom is very peaceful and quiet after children are adept with their curriculum. Children have the freedom to choose their lessons, and everything is accessible to each child promoting independence. The goal is that children can work by themselves like a teacher is not presenting. Teachers offer guidance but let the students explore and find their answer because every lesson has a control of error where they can see which is their mistake and fixed it. When I was exposed to this theory ten years ago, I fall in love with it because of how children are engaged and develop concentration, coordination, their senses, motor, and cognitive skills. The most amazing about the program is teacher don't limit the child and work at their own pace and instruction are in small groups which is more effective; older children can guide and help younger children.

The Waldorf approach to early childhood education is one that I just learned about. It was founded in Stuttgart, Germany in 1919. Even today it is more prominent in Europe than in the United States. It is not a traditional classroom setting like I am used to seeing but it is still considered a developmentally appropriate practice for young children. The philosophy of the Waldorf approach is to develop the body, spirit and soul of each child. Academics is not pushed, instead nurturing the child is the focus. Deep storytelling and using the imagination is a big part of the program.
Children in a Waldorf school are taught to love and care for others as well as for the environment. Their play is self-directed and encouraged to use their imagination. The environment is comfortable as a home would be and very natural looking without bright colors. There are plants and large windows to provide natural lighting. The materials children use is earthy like rocks, tree branches, dirt and leaves. They are stored in an organized manner, which gives them value and respect. The teachers tell stories, nurture the children and facilitate reverence and gratitude, in hopes the children will imitate them.
In my opinion, this approach seems like a it would develop the child’s inner being. The environment is set up to do that and to me it seems like it would be effective. I think it is an important part of the child’s development. Gratitude and inner peace are great characteristics to develop in a child. However, in my opinion imagination is good for children to have but it could also lead them to believe in something that is not real, and that could be dangerous for the children.
