The second approach I found interested is Montessori approach. Montessori is a method of education that is based on self directed activity, hands on learning and is collaborative play. This particular method is developed by Maria Montessori she believes they key for children to learned is independence, observation, following the child around. The environment in a montessori classroom is a meticulously prepared environment, developed to maximize learning and growth in children. The classroom is specifically designed to facilitate independent learning in young children. Educators arrange classroom to be independent movement and work freedom of choice in work activities as well as comfortable.
The materials use in a montessori classroom are invited activities for children to learn and explore as they go. They have many different materials such as : dressing frames, puzzle maps, classification cards, beads, hands on rask and many more for children learn at their own paste. In the video i notice a children playing what it looks like a sensory table and other children playing with cards in the table.
Montessori teachers are closely obeserving children in a daily basis to ensure children have adequate materials to enhance their learning. The teacher goal is to give children just enough to capture their attention and spark interested, intriguing them enough that they will come back on their own to work with the materials. Montessori teachers are guides and are watching over the classroom to remove obstacles from learning but not participating as a direct instructor. Hi Everyone,
I'm selecting the Waldorf approach. I never heard about this approach before, but It's a great philosophy. I love that its main focus is to develop the children's spirit, mind, soul, and body. Let children be themselves and free and focus more on their social-emotional development. I also believe when children learn gratitude, reverence, and respect, they can be more successful in life. Their environment is very peaceful, and everything in their environment has an intended purpose. Their main goal is that children find meaning and direction in life. I believe this philosophy should integrate it into every curriculum even though their main focus is not academically. This approach provides a warm and loving environment. Children are allowed to explore their imagination, have free play, express their creativity, enjoy, and play. The role of a teacher in this curriculum is not intrusive. The teacher teaches about purpose and devotion to develop their inner peace. Most of the materials are from nature, like rocks, seashells, wood, etc. all materials are well organized on shelves and accessible to children. The playground also is all nature, sand, trees, etc. Their activities in the playground could be raking the leaves, playing with sand and climbing a tree, etc. This curriculum doesn't provide any media, which I think is great because children are allowed to be real children. I was impressed with their theory because I remember when I grew up, I never was in front of a TV or playing games, old times were better, and I believe it should continue the same way in the present.

The Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education is a developmentally appropriate practice program. It was developed by Loris Malaguzzi in Reggio, Emilia, Italy after World War II. The purpose of this program is to allow children to show the teachers what they know, and the teachers will help them emerge beyond that. The curriculum is based upon the interests of the children and there is no timeline in which the subject changes. The classes are multi-age groups similar to siblings in a family.
The environment is a safe place for children to express their interests and ask questions about what they are curious about. Children are free to express their opinions about other children’s projects in order to understand each other’s rationale. Natural lighting from windows light up the room that is filled with mirrors, plants, documented work on the walls. Materials are very organized within the children’s reach for independent work. The materials are convergent, which means they are used only one way with only one solution. Teachers work alongside the children and document the progress of the children. They provoke the children to think by asking questions.
In my opinion, having a classroom with mixed ages seems like an advantage for the younger children in the class. I know in my family the younger children learned a whole lot by watching the older siblings and talking to and imitating them. The older children in turn develop a sense of responsibility for the younger children and learn to be leaders. This is a great system however my thoughts of concern would be that the older children are not challenged themselves. Since I am not familiar with this approach, I would like to find out.
