I have learned many new insights on helping students to read.  I think the biggest part is to remain positive, and if they struggle quickly say the words to help them.  Students need to see that we can read, and that we can give them insights into the story, by connecting the story to what they are learning.  Another thing that I have learned is to give students choices in their reading, or free choice to choose stories, and to positively guide them to explore new and exciting stories.   And the last thing that I have learned about reading with the students is that we can have a list of books, and give recommendations to the student’s strengths, and help them to overcome any weaknesses in their reading.  We can help to motivate them in many other ways if we give them some guidance.
