Response to what is written below please?
Though, in regard to your "setting achievable milestones," I would have to say that trying to work on your dissertation "one hour day despite being busy" may be unattainable, especially with all your other responsibilities. I would recommend you set a more manageable goal of "an average of 1 hour per day per week." This gives you the leeway to skip a day if you have to and still meet your weekly goal by spending more time on days when you have the time. Setting a goal that requires you to meet 1 hour everyday (instead of an average) is really difficult to maintain and can actually increase your likelihood of burnout and loss of motivation. Averages over longer periods of time can be motivators.I also recommend you consider the next level of all this and that is contemplation. When tackling a big research project like this, some of what you will be doing is simply thinking about your dissertation. You'll need to factor this in to your accounting for "work time on the dissertation." I found during both of my dissertations and other major research projects I've completed that some of my best ideas came when I was driving, while running, or when relaxing by the pool. While these ruminations were not "official" time working on my dissertation, in retrospect, they turned out to be the most important "work sessions" and helped with both the writing and revising processes.
