Self-Assessment Paper Guidelines

The Self-Assessment paper is the final submission/paper for this course hence it should contribute to your personal learning on leadership. This paper should be of appropriate depth and personal analysis.

It may be helpful to begin to write the paper as you complete the 17 "Self- Assessment Exercises" throughout the term. (They are found at the Hughes Online Learning Center - where the end of chapter quizzes are). The self-assessment exercises are found in the top left hand corner under Coursewise Content>"Self-assessments".

Note: Two exercises are listed twice ("Assessing your empathy skills" and "Assessing your ethical decision making skills") and do not include the "Assessing your emotional intelligence" in your paper as there was already an assignment that focused on that topic.

The Self-Assessment exercises/questionnaires will assist you to create a skills portfolio.   The behavioural exercises/questionnaires will help you discover things about yourself, your attitudes, your personal strengths and weaknesses. Using this information you will develop a leadership profile of yourself and provide a reflection on the implications of your findings about yourself.

The paper needs to be well organized and professionally communicated (writing is clear, logical and organized - with correct spelling and punctuation). The paper must demonstrate what you have learned from the behavioural exercises/questionnaires and how it contributes to your leadership profile.  As well, the paper needs to provide evidence to support your conclusions and the analysis must contain a strong connection between the evidence and the implications—demonstrated good critical thinking.

Your papers should be double-spaced, 12-point font, one-inch margins using APA 6th ed formatting. This assignment does not have a fixed paper length. It should be long enough to present your analysis soundly and to show the support for the content without being repetitive. Strive to present a paper that is thorough while being concise.

To summarize, your paper should identify what you've learned about yourself, your management related skills and areas for potential improvement.
