Task 1. Select an apparel brand and introduce your wholesale brand by writing a one paragraph background overview.

  • The brand must be a national brand or designer label that is sold to department stores.

Task 2. Define your selected brand's target market both demographically and psycho-graphically

Task 3. Define their pricing strategy and the reasons why in one paragraph.

Task 4. What is the brand's sourcing strategy? Domestic, off shore, 807, a combination? What are the pros versus cons of their strategy?

Task 5. define 5 styles for a "mini" assortment plan chart

Task 6. Provide an estimated manufacturing cost, wholesale and wholesale prices for each style. For our purposes of cost and wholesale sell price please do the following:

a.    Total Manufacturing Cost: Refer to your brand's website. If the style has a retail price of $50.00 take 30% of the $50.00 to get your total manufacturing cost. ( .30 x $50 = $15)

In this example it would be $15.00.

b.    In this example, the total manufacturing cost is $15.00. Now you need to determine the wholesale sell price. You are the merchandiser. Based on the ranking of the style, that you determined, what mark-up do want to be at. (Note: The wholesale markup range is from 38% to 55%) You are making the decision. So now, figure out the wholesale price and put in your assortment plan.

Task 7-  Sales forecast for your mini plan. Remember, merchandisers do not create equal sales goals for each style. You ranked your styles, so now forecast the quantities based on your ranking. Your sales forecast budget is $200,000. This means your four styles will generate a total of $200,000 of sales at wholesale cost (which is your sell price to your retailers.) How many units will you sell of each style? What is the total unit forecast that will generate your sales forecast of $200,000?
