In a variety of causes and in a variety of ways, Americans sought to reform the social institutions that shaped their lives. White women in particular played a significant role in reform movements.

Using the secondary sources above as evidence, consider the following in a post of at least 250 words:

  • Choose two major reform movements of the early to mid-19th century and discuss:
    • What were Americans attempting to reform, and why?
    • What role did women play in the reform movement?
    • What were the effects of the movements on society?

Then, over the course of the week, respond to the posts of at least two of your classmates.
