The principles of designs are organizing principles artists use to arrange their composition. The way an artist may use the principles can have a dramatic effect.
For this journal assignment, you are directed to find two 2D printmaking artworks that make contrasting use of the principles of design. One of your chosen artworks must be from the last 20 years (after 2003). For example, you might find one work that has a lot of unity and one work that has a lot of variety. What is the overall effect of these principles? How do your chosen artworks make use of the principles in different ways?
Please look to online galleries and museums to find your examples. There is a list of museums in the LibGuide for Art Appreciation. Choose from the following five types of prints for your examples: relief, intaglio, screen print, mono print, or lithograph; no digital, ink jet, or glicee prints should be used. You may not use the examples the textbook includes for these concepts. You must cite and reference the source where you find each artwork image; APA format is required for all citations and references. Your journal should be 500 words or more, not including any headers, title pages, or references.
