QUESTION

Theories of Inquiry

1.

1.     There seems to be some differences in scientific inquiry when it comes to thoughts and analysis. How do these theories align with the practice of psychology (i.e., the scientific process as a way to test theories and research questions)? Is there a place for such inductive exploration of ideas, and if so, how is that being accomplished?

2.     Given that our discipline of psychology is seen as a behavioral science in which the scientific method is the way we test our theories and questions, how do you think our discipline accepts ideas of phenomenology and other more qualitative and inductive ways at exploring a research question?
