Scope your project to be both wide enough to cover your area of interest, but also narrow and specific enough to address your niche.  Be aware that some of these topics contain large amounts of data and research with papers written over several years.  Limiting your scope at the beginning will save time and is a best practice.

Consider your audience as broad and multidisciplinary.  Primarily structure your paper for health administrators and health professionals, but also use language that encourages participation and piques the reader’s interest to learn more if they are not associated with epidemiology.

Be creative, resourceful, and innovative and think differently.  Bring a fresh and unique perspective to solve these problems in new ways.

·         Create an outline or template.  Initially, the outline will form a structure for your paper; it will help generate ideas and give you direction.  Write a list of questions that you would like to answer in your paper.

·         Create a title page and one page abstract.  The abstract should be a concise summary of the key points of your research, outlining the problem(s) you are going to address, why the reader should care about it, and how you are going to make progress or solve the problem(s).  It should contain your research topic, research questions, methods, results, data analysis, and conclusions. You may also include possible implications of your research and future work you see connected with your findings. Your abstract should be a single paragraph double-spaced and should be between 150 and 250 words.

·         Include charts, graphs, articles, data visualization examples, statistics and substantiate/support conclusions.   Ask yourself if you are providing enough support for your claims.

·         Create a summary in presentation form such as PowerPoint. Create this presentation to be an educational tool for your topic.  Consider a variety of audiences.  Use eye-catching, awe-inspiring visuals, pictures and minimal language (one sentence or less).  Have a compelling conclusion or call to action on the final slide.  The presentation deck should be between 10-20 slides.

·         The paper length will be approximately 10 pages.  In addition, there will be a title page, abstract and appendices that may contain supporting documentation, statistics, research, pictures, charts and/or graphs.
