- Suggest two real-world examples of user and system response times that demonstrate their importance and significance.
classmates comments:
An acceptable system response time for interactive applications could be significantly vary depending on the different purposes and types. The website is considered as a kind of application. According to our textbook, the acceptable response time for the website should be less than 2 seconds. But the tolerance of response time for other applications could be very different. For example, system response time could be critical to a real-time video game like car racing. Even the lagging time of the LCD monitor does matter. But a chess game player doesn't really mind the system response time.
Suggest two real-world examples of user and system response times that demonstrate their importance and significance.
Compare to the website accessing, way more factors affect the system response time for interactive applications. For example, the throughput of motherboard bus, the video graphic card's performance, the sensitive of the controller, even the lagging time of the LCD monitor contribute to the system response time for a real-time video game.
Another example is the aviation simulator. System response time plays a critical role in the process of human interactive with the simulator. When an emergency event happened, any delay could be fatal.
