This activity will involve exploring and documenting details of the vehicle components such as vehicle platforms (i.e: quadcopter versus fixed wing), engines, sensors, and power systems to assess their performance space. In the previous week, you identified needs and notional performance metrics for the system. This week you will investigate, compare, and contrast various system components that can meet these needs. For example, you may want to develop a plot of a component weight versus its basic performance metric, such as propulsion system versus thrust. Or maybe the vehicle gross take-off weight versus its empty weight. This will inform you on how many components can be added to the system.
Investigate the following subsystems, communication, energy storage. You may need to return to the various laboratories to more specifically explore performance metrics for the components.
