You will have two weeks to complete this assignment. It is due by Monday, 6:00 AM Eastern Time (at the end of Week 4/start of Week 5).
Project Description
In this project, you will determine if the company producing this product is correct in advertising that it grows up to 600%. Does it really grow up to 600% of its original size as stated on the package? The package also shows what the creature will look like after growing for certain amounts of time.
Your task in this project is to determine if this company is honestly advertising the product. You should grow one of these creatures yourself and report your findings in a well-written report. Items like these can be found in toy stores, novelty stores and even online.
Report
In a Microsoft Word document, clearly and concisely report your findings. In your report, be creative, colorful and convince the reader of your findings.
1. Begin your report with an introduction to the project and how you approached it.
2. Discuss the methods that you utilized in determining the rate of growth of the critter and report your findings and support them with graphs, charts and anything else that would prove your results. (Hint: Microsoft Excel is a great tool that could help you with this.)
Here are some questions for you to address in your discussion:
* How did you measure the size of the critter as it is growing in the water?
* Did you measure it with a ruler or other means?
* Did you determine the volume of the critter as it is growing?
* Did you use water displacement as a means of measurement?
* Was it helpful to trace or did you trace the critter before beginning the project?
* Would it be helpful to trace the critter throughout the growth?
* How often did you record a growth rate change? (Provide the data)
* Was the rate of change the same as it grew or did it change?
* What other factors could have influenced the critter's growth such as temperature or light?
3. Finally, conclude your report by discussing if this product should remain on the shelves to be sold or if it should be pulled from retail for false advertising.
*Note: Will everyone in the class necessarily have the same answer? Will everyone's critter grow at the same rate? Keep these things in
