What are the 5 states of matter?

Read below.

Well look who's lucky. This is our lesson last week on my review class. Anyways,

To update you, there are now SIX (yep, six!) states of matter.

  • Solid
  • Liquid
  • Gas
  • Plasma
  • Bose-Einstein Condensate
  • Jahn-Teller Metal

I assume you know solid, liquid, and gas, so I'll just explain the other three, :)

Plasma - Ionized gas consists of positive ions . A very common example of this is the Sun, as well as stars in general.

Bose-Einstein Condensate- Dilute gas of boson cooled down to .

Jahn-Teller Metal- Discovered in the year 2015. A very new state of matter (shocking news right?). They are a HIGH temperature superconductors (and when I say HIGH, it is very high).

Note: Bose-Einstein Condensate and Jahn-Teller Metal are mostly being used in the field of Physics. We, I, chemists, deals only with solid, liquid, gas, and plasma.
