QUESTION

What is/are the desire(s) that drive(s) the narrative of The Makioka Sisters ?

The Makioka Sisters

While it would be nice to be given a few helps on how to structure my paper, I want to ask a broader question of what exactly the 'narrative voice' is, and how it represents 'desires'.

A brief search shows that Freud, Lacan and Derrida are some of the involved names in this subject matter; also, Peter Brooks seems to have made this his major subject of study. In this sense, is it possible to get a brief summary/explanation of how Freud, Derrida and Lacan defined desire?

It would be even better if I could also get an explanation on the correlation between desires and the narrative voice.
