What is the bond polarity of cacl2?
CaCl2 is an ionic compound which resulted from combination of a metalic atom (Ca) with a non metalic atoms (2 Cl).
These atoms have large difference in electronegativities such that as they approach each other to form a bond, Ca gives up its 2 making itself cationic with positive 2 charge while the 2 Cl atoms each accepts one of these electrons making themselves anionic with negative 1 charge.
Since this compound results from a combination of ions (cation and anion) this is an ionic compound which has a polar bond.
