Why did some states want a bill of rights added to the Constitution?
They were afraid of a strong government that voided them of their personal freedoms.
Many states, particularly the South, were afraid that the Constitution would reflect a strong government and would therefore restrict individual freedoms. The bill of rights were a list of individual freedoms that people felt were necessary to avoid having a constricting government.
