Why do you think terms used more than two thousand years ago are appropriate to the practice of medicine today? Write  brief paragraph explanation for reach of these four concepts: Ability, Judgment, Confidentiality, and Do no Harm.

In your response, consider some of following questions (do not attempt to answer all these questions at this time. We will consider them in several contexts throughout this course):

• What does ability mean? How should ability be measured and by whom?
• What does judgment mean? How should judgment be measured?
• Is there a difference between exercising medical judgment and medical ability?
• Should everything in the medical record be confidential? Should confidentiality be determined by the patient or the health care provider? Are there circumstances where confidentiality cannot legally be preserved, regardless of the patient's wishes?
• How is harm avoided? Is there always some harm involved in medical treatment? Are side-effects of medication harmful? Must there always be a benefit to justify a treatment?
