Remember when you were younger and told your parents a lie, you probably feared the words lie detector. If you like watching daytime television shows, then you have noticed the host's use a "lie detector" known more commonly as a polygraph. A polygraph test is usually used to reveal if an individual is deceptive or not. However, polygraph tests only measure physiological changes and do not prove if an individual is lying or not. How reliable is a polygraph? This paper will address the following: development, techniques, physiological measures and credibility of the polygraph.
