Write 1 page thesis on the topic outline of the application of the learning concept to real-world problem due. Learning Skills Learning Skills There is a major concern by many managers and educators if students have the capability to transfer procedures and concepts learned in school into the real world and working field. There is need for improved project based and problem solving approach activities in learning. This assists in preparing the students mentally for the main problems they will have to solve in the working environment or the real world (Creswell, 2008). When a child is taught a skill, for instance solving a problem in mathematics, they often don’t realize that such skill can be used to solve other problems outside school environment. For students to learn effectively and use their skills for success in school and beyond, it is necessary they equip themselves with the ability to think critically, think creatively, and be able to collaborate and more importantly to communicate effectively.

Learning transfer is affected by several factors. They include whether the learner understands concepts or simply tries to memorize knowledge, the time spent on learning a particular task, student motivation, problem presentation and the conditions for the transfer of skills (Creswell, 2008). Teaching approach through problem solving gives the learner a challenge to understand through engaging in a real problem. Learning through solving a problem is a good approach that is student centered. Students get to work in group or teams as the real world while handling real scenarios and projects.

Problem solving and projects based approach to learning equips the student with various skills that can be transferred into real world. In representation, the person solving the problem mentally exemplifies the problem. His or her representation is directly linked to the knowledge of the problem. Through understanding, student knowledge of the problem and his or her ability to transfer the known concepts to the new problem is linked to his or her abilities to symbolize the problem (Creswell, 2008). Getting experience plays a key role in solving a similar problem in future and in the real world. Experiences among students differ. The conceptual knowledge among people also differs. When a person solving the problem understands completely the problem and the structure underlying it, then transferring such ideas to similar situations can easily occur (Creswell, 2008). Problem solving and project based approach are therefore vital for the transfer of knowledge from the school to the real world experience.
