It is a steel cage with vertical bars. All bars are equally spaced and the spacing between two consecutive bars is half inch. The cage is painted all in white. Since it is a very old cage, the steel has caught rust, and one can see rusty brown patches showing through the paint randomly. Although I love this cage very much, yet I have not done any modifications in it not because I do not care about it, but because I want to keep it original, just the way it was gifted to me by my grandmother. There is a rectangular steel plate at the base of the cage. This plate can be slided in and out of the cage through a slit located at the joint of the base and the front of the cage. The purpose of this steel plate is to carry the droppings of the birds and prevent the droppings from escaping the cage from the base which, if happened, would make the surface on which the cage was placed, dirty. The steel plate is totally unpainted and has become heavily rusty. One can see large orange-brown patches and the original steel grey color shows through the patches occasionally. The steel plate is rusted to the extent that two holes have appeared on it, one near the center and one toward the far right corner. The hole in the middle is twice the size of the other hole. The cage has a door at the front in the middle. The size of this door is 6 inches by 6 inches. The door can be slided up to leave the birds inside or take them out of the cage. The same door is used to place grains and water inside the cage. A very small lock exists at the junction of the right end of the door and the front of the cage. There are two little carriers inside the cage in the form of tiny buckets. The bucket that contains grains is red in color whereas the bucket in which the water is placed is green in color. The buckets have been wired to the bars on each side of the cage with steel wires. The food bucket has been wired to the right side
