The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 4th Edition, Text Revision (DSM-IV-TR) is the manual used to diagnose mental illnesses. It was first published in the year 1952 by the American Psychiatric Association. This manual has been revised several times, and presently the latest version is referred to as the DSM-IV.
